It is a uniquely modern form of dating torture. You send a guy a text message. One hour goes by, then two, then four. You tell yourself he’s probably just busy, slammed at work, or away from his phone.

Ten minutes later, you check your views, and there is his name right at the top. He saw your story. He has his phone in his hand. He is actively scrolling through social media. Yet, your text message is still sitting there, completely unanswered.
It feels like a deliberate slap in the face. You start overthinking: If he has time to watch my life, why doesn't he have time to reply to me? Is he playing games? Is he losing interest?

Viewing a story requires zero effort. It is passive consumption. When a guy is tired, bored, or slacking off, he will tap through his feed mindlessly, barely processing what he’s looking at. His brain is on autopilot.

If he takes 12 to 24 hours to reply to simple texts, regularly watches your stories within minutes of you posting them, and makes no effort to plan real dates, he is cultivating a "low-effort connection." Judge him by his real-life actions. If a guy treats you incredibly well in person, makes consistent plans, and is fully present when you're together, don't let a delayed text message ruin a good thing.
